Land Shark Common Area, Tuesday Night: Impromptu Girls' Slumber Party

Rinoa's BFF Ariel was having a rough week. That was no fun. And -- inspired by the fact that most of her cabinmates were female (seven of the eight of them, in fact) -- Rinoa had had an Idea.

Which was: a completely disgustingly girly party. Pajamas, make-overs, gossip, and really bad romantic comedies.

Rinoa had her jammies on already, and had made Ariel help her set up. Munchies, make-up, and movies. What more could they want?

She had even posted a few so very handwavey signs outside, in front of their cabin and places where the other cabins might see, with the important points: Girl Party, exactly how girly it was going to be, and NO BOYS ALLOWED.

Except Jono, since he was the eighth boy in the cabin and all. He could be an honorary girl for the night!! Wouldn't he be thrilled?

Especially if someone tried braiding his hair.

(OKAY SO: whore4trash and furnace_face modded with permission, and they totally rock for jointly inspiring this post. This is in the landshark common room but is totally open tooooooo:

- anybody who lives in Landshark, naturally!
- any girl student who wants to come hang out and be nauseated by the frou-frou-ness of it all
- despite the poster, any BOY student who wants to come can totally either (a) run screaming in terror or (b) stay and be girly. Fair warning: staying means you WILL be forced to endure horrific romcoms and probably get your nails painted.

Squall took a deep breath. Was it always like this? His skin tingled all over. That settled it -- he was NEVER going to kiss her, not ever, because there wasn't any way he could stay uninvolved if he did.

"I'm not a girl," he insisted. "But you are." And he turned and lightly kissed her on her cheek. As grand romantic gestures went, it... wasn't. But this WAS Squall, after all.

"Lucky Jono," Karla said, sending a smirk his way. "I bet he's excited. But I'm really glad you decided to throw this tonight. Perfect timing."

It didn't last long. He pulled away pretty quickly.

He gave her a quick, genuine smile, and then stomped grumpily back to his place.

Karla shook her head. "I don't think so," she said, deliberately stepping on memories from another Fandom. "I've cared very deeply about people, but I don't think it's ever gotten to love. I don't think I'm ready to trust anyone that deeply, yet."

Jono was smiling somewhere around that statement, and so it probably wasn't meant to be as bitter as it sounded. For once.

Jono eyed Karla for a moment, and then, taking into consideration that she wasn't the other crazy girls in the room, and that she also knew what it was he was hiding under those bandages of his and he trusted her not to do anything dangerous, he decided to go for broke.

No, no, Jonothon wasn't freaking out. Jonothon was forming elaborate plans in his head that would never come to pass, involving Avon and burning down their warehouses.

Rinoa. Sweetie. Look who you were talking to, here. Ariel gave her a bit of a smirking look before pointedly tilting her head forward so that her very red hair came tumbling forward. She gave it a shake, before tossing it back over her shoulders in a very picture of fabulousness. Cliched! Heck no! Red was the best!

Which was why Ariel was decidedly plucking out of the lineup something very red for Rinoa's toes.

Rilla's question got two very pleased thumbs up, because, hello! Party! She bounced a little, clapping her hands together with pride at how well she and Rinoa had thrown things together, and then just smiled happily at Rilla because it was so nice to see people join them!

Never! Though she was seriously failing at keeping herself from laughing, Ariel was not going nod if her life depended on it. Closing her eyes tight as if to seal the determination, she shook her head emphatically back and forth in refusal.

*Oh, you're quite excellent at being male,* Karla said. *Which is why I don't see you having a problem with letting them make you all up and such. No one's going to question your masculinity, no matter how pretty you look.*

"Let's see...you've already gone the pretty, pretty princess route, so too late there..." Karla paused to think for a moment. Kissing someone? Out--though her first thought was for Didi and she only belatedly remembered his lack of mouth. Drinking? Out. Stripping down to his boxers or something? Out. Karla didn't want him to get all self-conscious because of his bandages.

"I dare you to text the three prettiest females in school--and Didi doesn't count!--and tell them you think so." She gave him a wicked grin. "And no telling them why~y!"

"We'll just have to run off and get drunk another time," Karla said. And then had to add, "Maybe chat about handcuffs again" just to see if she'd get a reaction.

"Bad day?" Rinoa asked, offering the sort of frown that invited Karla to share more, should she want. "Ariel's having one, too. I think they're going around. Is it boy trouble?"

Because that was her first guess for everything, dammit.

And today it happened to be spot-on. "My boyfriend and I broke up last night," she said, giving Rinoa a wry smile. "My idea, but still less fun than it could be."

"I think this color looks good on you," Rinoa said, oblivious to her impending doom. Or perhaps entirely aware of it, but convinced that she could charm her way out of it.

Really, it was best to ignore doom and march forward like it wasn't there, and usually doom backed down first. At least, if you were Rinoa.

Rinoa wiggled her toes in Ariel's direction. "Okay, red me up!"

This was beyond Truth or Dare and well into: Rinoa had no sense of personal boundaries.
