Rinoa's BFF Ariel was having a rough week. That was no fun. And -- inspired by the fact that most of her cabinmates were female (seven of the eight of them, in fact) -- Rinoa had had an Idea.

Which was: a completely ~~disgustingly~~ girly party. Pajamas, make-overs, gossip, and really bad romantic comedies.

Rinoa had her jammies on already, and had made Ariel help her set up. Munchies, make-up, and movies. What more could they want?

She had even posted a few ~~so very handwavey~~ signs outside, in front of their cabin and places where the other cabins might see, with the important points: Girl Party, exactly how girly it was going to be, and NO BOYS ALLOWED.

Except Jono, since he was the eighth boy in the cabin and all. He could be an honorary girl for the night!! Wouldn't he be thrilled?

Especially if someone tried braiding his hair.

- anybody who lives in Landshark, naturally!
- any girl student who wants to come hang out and be nauseated by the frou-frou-ness of it all
- despite the poster, any BOY student who wants to come can totally either (a) run screaming in terror or (b) stay and be girly. Fair warning: staying means you WILL be forced to endure horrific romcoms and probably get your nails painted.

Helen had outglared an entire cannibal village. Vapid she was not. Glaring she was.

"No worries, dude," Puck said, wrinkling his nose. "You're not my type."

"You ... don't know what that means?" Rinoa asked. "It's what we've been arguing about for the past hour, isn't it?"

Yeah, one of them was totally lost. If not both. Probably both.

Helen looked around, a bit confused. "Who?"

"Mohawk?" Rinoa grinned. "I can't say I blame you. Hoooot."

Really, the sad thing was that he could have so easily just gotten up and left, and instead he had decided that sitting around grousing would be a good way to spend the evening. This was the mysterious way of the Jonothon.

//I suppose I ought to me thankful that you're not trying to talk me into eyeliner, at any rate.//

"You should," Puck offered. "Look, Ariel's pretty, right? Or Rilla? Make it happen." He fixed her with a sincere look. "I believe in you."

"I do!" Rinoa said happily. "And if he's not there, I just tell him I did it later. He glares and he says 'But I'm not your boyfriend' and I say, well, you will be when you stop being an idiot, and he rolls his eyes and says, 'Whatever.'"

Which was not, incidentally, 'please stop doing that.'

"You've never had a make-over?" Rinoa asked. Much like discovering a small child had never gotten ice cream. This was horrible and should be fixed immediately. "It's where someone else does your make-up and hair and makes you look super-hot for the night."

"I will drink to that," she decided, doing exactly as she said. "Because it's totally fun to be deliberately so sometimes."

Leia had spent the first several years of her life being anything but girly if she could avoid it, but in her teenage years had learned to enjoy it more. And since it was her cabin, she could hardly be rude and ignore it, right? Especially if they got to makeup boys unwise enough to join them. "I'd love to," she said.

"The best cabin ever?" Ino offered lightly. "Who else has a party goin' on tonight? Bet it's no one."

Which clearly meant they won the cabin-of-awesome award, yes.

"Gossipping, doing each other's hair, nail polish..." Ino grinned. "It's a whole lot of fun, I promise."

"Whoever set up the party?" Leia suggested.

"No," Helen admitted. maybe looking a bit frightened of Rinoa's excitement. "I... the priests were not terribly concerned with whether someone looked, um... 'super-hot'. And I was the only female there."

It was very definitely working to her advantage. Of course, Puck had advantages, too -- namely, he was a lot bigger than her, and routinely bench-pressed weights that were about Ariel-poundage. Thus it wasn't hard for him to attempt to scoop her up, laughing. "Come on, I win! Nod your head, I know you agree!"

"I have tissues," Rinoa said, dismissing the allergy with a wave of her hand. "Don't sneeze on anybody, okay?"

Which meant she was totally allowed to put glitter stars on, once she got the nail polish in place, right?

She was still filing his nails, for now. "You should take better care of your cuticles," she observed.

Her smile brightened. Really, so far as things went, that was the nicest he'd been to her.

Of course, the other times, she hadn't been handing him booze, so...

"You're welcome," she chirped. "Did your curiosity bring you here? You don't much look like a girl."

"Of course," Helen said and she could perhaps be forgiven for the skepticism in her voice.

"No, I just don't like signs telling me where to not be," Puck noted with a grin.

Helen nodded thougtfully. "Yes, that would seem likely."

She hesitated, then dared to ask. "Is... is this the sort of thing most people enjoy?"

"I think you said that wrong," Rinoa chirped. "You mean, 'I've never had any fun.' Or 'I've never gotten this stick all the way out.'"

"Whatever."
