Land Shark Common Area, Tuesday Night: Impromptu Girls' Slumber Party

Rinoa's BFF Ariel was having a rough week. That was no fun. And -- inspired by the fact that most of her cabinmates were female (seven of the eight of them, in fact) -- Rinoa had had an Idea.

Which was: a completely ~~disgustingly~~ girly party. Pajamas, make-overs, gossip, and really bad romantic comedies.

Rinoa had her jammies on already, and had made Ariel help her set up. Munchies, make-up, and movies. What more could they want?

She had even posted a few ~~so very handwavey~~ signs outside, in front of their cabin and places where the other cabins might see, with the important points: Girl Party, exactly how girly it was going to be, and NO BOYS ALLOWED.

Except Jono, since he was the eighth boy in the cabin and all. He could be an honorary girl for the night!! Wouldn't he be thrilled?

Especially if someone tried braiding his hair.

- anybody who lives in Landshark, naturally!
- any girl student who wants to come hang out and be nauseated by the frou-frou-ness of it all
- despite the poster, any BOY student who wants to come can totally either (a) run screaming in terror or (b) stay and be girly. Fair warning: staying means you WILL be forced to endure horrific romcoms and probably get your nails painted.

Puck was bored. And really, a sign that said no boys allowed? That was like a beacon, calling him like a moth to a flame: there would be hot girls here. And he could infiltrate and bond with them, and then maybe it would turn into a giant sex-party!

(Puck's logic was special.)

But anyway. He peeked in, slanting a look around at the decorations. "What do you ladies have against dudes?"

And that would be Ariel, absolutely unable to refuse the chance to throw a pillow at the head poking in. Because she was sixteen, and that totally still counted as flirting.

And poor, unsuspecting Puck got hit full in the face with a pillow, and dramatically clutched his hand to his heart when he'd located the source. "Ariel! You wound me."

Which earned Puck a very lofty look, one that was asking him what of it? One hand met her hip while the other idly twirled the next pillow around by the pillow case. Wound, he said. She was just getting started!

"I'm unarmed," he said pitifully, giving her the very best puppy eyes he could. "You wouldn't beat me up when I couldn't fight back?"

Shut up, Puck, that is like your life.

Awww. He did make a pretty good (and piteous) argument. Looking a little sheepish about the whole thing, Ariel stopped twirling the pillow threatening, slagged her shoulders a little, and carefully considered his proposal. She tapped her finger on her chin and considered the case of honor in beating an unarmed man.

Of course, he was right.

...NOT! Just as she looked about ready to acquiesce, she lifted the pillow up again and sent it flying. It's not like she threw it that hard, though. A minnow bite, at most!

This time, though, Puck's reflexes were on his side, and he caught the pillow. And with a cocked eyebrow, he grinned at her, slowly approaching. "You just gave up your weapon, babe. What should I do with this? Hmmm."

Looking as suddenly sweet and innocent and harmless as could possibly be, it was clear from Ariel's lovely batting eyes that what Puck obviously needed to do was put the pillow down and not at all retaliate, of course!

Yeah, nice try there. His grin turned a little predatory, and Puck threw the pillow straight at her, following quickly with the attempt to try to tackle her. Because that was fair, totally.

Couldn't blame a girl for trying. Ariel really didn't expect it to work, though she'd be pleasantly surprised if it had, and she knew that a counterattack was coming.

She had not anticipated, however, a tackle.

She was not complaining (and not merely because she couldn't). If she had a voice, a mild cry of surprise might have escaped her, but, yeah, like she was really going to fight Puck taking her.

"I win," Puck decided, reaching to grab her around the middle. He was more than willing to pick her up, too, if she kept fighting.

If there was any fighting, it was in argument that he was winning anything. Ariel didn't give that up so easily. Although, really, she was laughing so hard that putting up any sort of resistance was pretty impossible. There was plenty of squirming, though, but she figured that would just wind up working to her advantage.

It was very definitely working to her advantage. Of course, Puck had advantages, too -- namely, he was a lot bigger than her, and routinely bench-pressed weights that were about Ariel-poundage. Thus it wasn't hard for him to attempt to scoop her up, laughing. "Come on, I win! Nod your head, I know you agree!"

Never! Though she was seriously failing at keeping herself from laughing, Ariel was not going nod if her life depended on it. Closing her eyes tight as if to seal the determination, she shook her head emphatically back and forth in refusal.

Helen raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you here to be... girly?"

"No, I just don't like signs telling me where to not be," Puck noted with a grin.

That got a laugh. "All right, that I can see about you, far easier than you -" She cut herself off and rolled her eyes, still grinning. "Never mind. Foolish me. Where else would you be but in the middle of a girls' party.

"I do love my ladies," Puck said with a cocky smile.

Helen blushed a little and shook her head. "Enough to dare this. You are determined."

"Hey, hey now. I just want to hang out with girls," Puck said, wagging a finger at her. "What determination?"

She laughed, but the mix of horror and wistfulness was undoubtedly clear in her face as she gestured around the room. "To face all of this!"

"They're just girls," he confided, grinning at her. "Come on, they'll get their pink stuff out of the way and I get to flirt. It'll be fun."

"I've never..." She looked around at all the activity. "Never done any of this."

Part of her wondered if that made her even more of a failure at this whole trying to fit in thing here.

She glanced back at him. "Do boys like all of this... fanciness?"

"Sometimes," Puck said thoughtfully. "Mostly I like a girl who takes care of herself."

Helen laughed, possibly completely misunderstanding him. "Well, I'm certainly very independent if nothing else."

She certainly wasn't very girly or particularly stylishly dressed - unless one was very fond of simple black clothing - but she was certainly scrupulously clean and well put together..
