Land Shark Common Area, Tuesday Night: Impromptu Girls' Slumber Party

Rinoa's BFF Ariel was having a rough week. That was no fun. And -- inspired by the fact that most of her cabinmates were female (seven of the eight of them, in fact) -- Rinoa had had an Idea.

Which was: a completely disgustingly girly party. Pajamas, make-overs, gossip, and really bad romantic comedies.

Rinoa had her jammies on already, and had made Ariel help her set up. Munchies, make-up, and movies. What more could they want?

She had even posted a few so very handwavey signs outside, in front of their cabin and places where the other cabins might see, with the important points: Girl Party, exactly how girly it was going to be, and NO BOYS ALLOWED.

Except Jono, since he was the eighth boy in the cabin and all. He could be an honorary girl for the night!! Wouldn't he be thrilled?

Especially if someone tried braiding his hair.

(OKAY SO: whore4trash and furnace_face modded with permission, and they totally rock for jointly inspiring this post. This is in the landshark common room but is totally open tooooooo:

- anybody who lives in Landshark, naturally!
- any girl student who wants to come hang out and be nauseated by the frou-frou-ness of it all
- despite the poster, any BOY student who wants to come can totally either (a) run screaming in terror or (b) stay and be girly. Fair warning: staying means you WILL be forced to endure horrific romcoms and probably get your nails painted.

Ino twirled the hairbrush in her hands for a moment.

"Promise," she said again, as she made sure that Helen's hair was settled the way Ino liked it and, without warning, gently ran the brush through the hair. "These things are super fun."

Helen jumped, then made herself settle again. It wasn't that it felt bad. It had just been startling. She wasn't used to someone touching her - not unless she was having sex or something.

Ino patted Helen soothingly on the head. She didn't mean for it come across as condescending, but it could certainly be taken that way. Either way, Ino was going to try that hair brushing thing again.

"Relax," she said, half an order. "It's not going to hurt you."

Helen bristled a little, but mostly internally since, honestly, it felt rather good. "All right," she said. "Please go on."

"At your service," she said, amused and definitely happy to brush Helen's hair. Ino was even going to hum under her breath. "You've got pretty hair."

Helen felt a bit like Kianah when she was particularly content and almost purry. It did feel very good.

"I do?" she asked curiously.

"It's a good colour," she said, nodding. "And healthy. Could use some more shine and silky soft though--what brand do you use?"

Ino was just going to rattle off a few that she thought might be better oh, now.

Yes, before Helen got a chance to answer her.

Helen turned to stare at her. "Brand? What? I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Brands! Shampoos! They aren't all equal you know," Ino fussed. "Some are better for certain things than others."

Ino pursed her lips.

"That's it. You need to go shopping."

"I clean it very regularly," Helen protested. "Shopping?"

"For shampoo! For conditioner! For things that'll leave your hair silky soft and will mean that it's barely tangled at all when you wake up!"

"Shampoo and conditioner?" My, she seemed to be sounding more and more like a parrot tonight. "Are they truly necessary?"

... That really depended on your definition of 'necessary', honestly.

So: "Definitely," Ino said solemnly. "They're very important in order to keep your hair in excellent condition."

Also, Ino had her hair past her butt when it was up in a pony tail. She was definitely not an unbiased source of information here.

"Oh." Helen considered that for a moment. "The priests never seemed to think anything beyond soap was needed."

Of course, most of them had very little hair...
