Land Shark Common Area, Tuesday Night: Impromptu Girls' Slumber Party

Rinoa's BFF Ariel was having a rough week. That was no fun. And -- inspired by the fact that most of her cabinmates were female (seven of the eight of them, in fact) -- Rinoa had had an Idea.

Which was: a completely disgustingly girly party. Pajamas, make-overs, gossip, and really bad romantic comedies.

Rinoa had her jammies on already, and had made Ariel help her set up. Munchies, make-up, and movies. What more could they want?

She had even posted a few so very handwavey signs outside, in front of their cabin and places where the other cabins might see, with the important points: Girl Party, exactly how girly it was going to be, and NO BOYS ALLOWED.

Except Jono, since he was the eighth boy in the cabin and all. He could be an honorary girl for the night!! Wouldn't he be thrilled?

Especially if someone tried braiding his hair.

(OKAY SO: whore4trash and furnace_face modded with permission, and they totally rock for jointly inspiring this post. This is in the landshark common room but is totally open tooooooo:

- anybody who lives in Landshark, naturally!
- any girl student who wants to come hang out and be nauseated by the frou-frou-ness of it all
- despite the poster, any BOY student who wants to come can totally either (a) run screaming in terror or (b) stay and be girly. Fair warning: staying means you WILL be forced to endure horrific romcoms and probably get your nails painted.

"You need some ribbon and lace," she wheedled, knowing it was likely a failed gambit. "I have some hair ties that'd look adorable on you."

"What 'bout brushing it?" she tried. "That wouldn't hurt it, right? And it wouldn't hurt you either."

And then she could just sneak the braids and ribbons and such in. She was so clever.

Look, his hair was one of the few good features he had left. He spent a good amount of time each day making certain that it was just right. He really couldn't see any harm in somebody just running a brush through it.

"I somehow doubt you'd be interested in mine considerin' it's kiwi-something scented," she said dryly and Ino was just going to reach for a brush and look hopeful.

"So what do you say?"

"Are you trying to be difficult?" Ino pouted at him. Big puppy eyes. "That's not fair! You're supposed to be enjoying yourself here."

Victory! Ino did a little boogie-dance and bounced over to him. Pay no attention to the way she managed to stealthily bring along elastics and ribbon and things. Ino had skills.

"I'm totally going to brush it," she assured him, contemplating where to start. "And you'll just love it."

It wasn't entirely like lying, really.

//Be gentle, would you? My hair and I happen to go far back. We actually get along, most days.//

"I'll be so gentle you'll barely know I'm touching your hair," she promised as she gently tugged on a piece of it before taking up her brush. To battle!

"I'd say you wouldn't know I'm there," Ino continued. "But I like talking, so."

Really, the sad thing was that he could have so easily just gotten up and left, and instead he had decided that sitting around grousing would be a good way to spend the evening. This was the mysterious way of the Jonothon.

"I'm not a fan of things like that," she admitted easily, for the moment just brushing his hair exactly as she'd said. Very carefully. "For one: smudges. For two, I like my face the way it is. Don't really use more than lip gloss and moisturizers 'case it's dry."

At least, not until he kicked his terrible exploding habit.

She eyed the bandages and said nothing about that. Yeah. Ino could guess why.

"I'm thrilled to be on your lesser hatred list," she told him, laughing softly. "Even if it's sad that I'm not on your 'like' list."

No, it wasn't. It was actually a very long list.

"I don't think she should be on your like list," Ino said, fussing with the ends of his hair for a moment before beginning to brush it again.

Only this time, she was going to slowly separate it into three strands and begin braiding them together.

"She deserves a better list than that from you."

Really, she pretty much was the better lists. All on her own.

"Good," Ino said, bobbing her head, and oh so carefully tugging at his hair. Hopefully he wouldn't think much of it. "So, who all is on your less hatred list? I'm nosey."

"Don't be like that," she scolded, weaving a ribbon into the plait as she worked. Ino held the braid still for a moment while she brushed the rest of it--this way, at least, he'd think she was still brushing his hair, right? "I promise I am still totally worthy of your list."
